2020 Year in Review

2020 DMA Scholarship

Our first scholarship cycle launched in the spring of 2020. The goal was to award a $500 scholarship to a deserving student. To our surprise, over 60 applications were recieved. Through fundraising efforts and support of our phenomenal scholarship committee, five $500 scholarships were awarded. We’re honored to be a small part of the educational journey of these future leaders.

COVID-19 Support

In March 2020 as the pandemic shifted lives around the world, we supported local and college bound students by providing PPE Kits (hand sanitizers & masks).

In addition, we partnered with the Arlington Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc, and Eddie Jr’s Catering to provide a celebratory drive thru parade and catered meal at the Arlington Memorial Hospital. We celebrate all frontline healthcare workers.

We found a dire need for grieving families to have access to online memorial support during this pandemic. With social distancing guidelines in place, The DMA Foundation has been honored to give virtual space to these families to honor their loved ones.

Back-to-School Drive

To continue in the spirit of education and leadership, we partnered with The Potters House of Fort Worth, the Lee Arthur Johnson Center, Teaching and Encouraging Authenticity (TEA) and AmerigroupTX to provide backpacks, school supplies and tutoring resources within our local community. Together, we served over 500 families.

Remembering Them

Throughout the year, we have given space to support bereaved families by providing online grief support. Topic experts and licensed counselors have come alongside us to provide strategies and insight for those navigating this journey.

On December 31st we held a candle lighting ceremony to remember the lives of those who have left an indelible mark on our hearts.
